The head of the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Orenburg region, Alexander Sitnikov, said that the water in partially flooded Orsk began to recede. According to him, requests to rescuers from city residents have become much smaller.

“In Orsk, the water began to recede; the situation, most importantly, has stabilized. At least the water doesn’t come anywhere. Today is already the second day when no sirens sound,” Mr. Sitnikov said on Channel One (quoted from “RIA News”).

He added that rescuers in Orsk are now mainly carrying out a humanitarian mission. As Alexander Sitnikov said, they deliver food, water and medicine to local residents. “RIA News” The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also reported that rescuers are also delivering electric generators and fuel to flooded areas.

According to local authorities, the water level in the Ural River in the Orsk region by today, April 10, had dropped by 29 cm in the morning, to 899 cm. At the same time, as reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a large influx of water began to flow into Orenburg. Due to the flood, a state of emergency is in effect in the Orenburg, Tyumen and Kurgan regions.
