Walruses staged a March swim in icy water in Tarko-Sale

On March 31, an open winter swimming and winter swimming festival among amateurs, “Walruses of Yamal,” was held in Tarko-Sale. The organizers, NOVATEK, announced this on the evening of April 1.
Participants competed in categories, swimming 100 meters for speed and time – the winner had to stay in the icy water longer than his opponents.
The winner among men in the “Meterage-100 meters” category was Dmitry Zhdanov, who swam 108 meters freestyle in two minutes 50 seconds; among women, Victoria Gomzyakova won, who lasted in the water for three minutes 20 seconds.
In the “For Time – 15 Minutes” category, Oleg Sharipov won among men, having stayed in the icy water for ten minutes and 17 seconds; Chulpan Valitova, who stayed in the water for two minutes and 36 seconds, won among women.
