The number of guilty verdicts against Russian athletes in cases of doping has increased to 166. This was stated by the press service of the World Anti-Doping Agency. They emphasized that we are talking about investigations based on data from the Laboratory Information Management System. The samples were received in 2019.
Three years ago, the laboratory recorded some actions that were performed with the results of doping tests of athletes. This information was submitted to WADA, where the experts concluded that the manipulations were carried out in order to hide the use of prohibited substances.
The Russian side denied all accusations and began legal proceedings. The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne sided with WADA. But some of the arguments of the international organization rejected. Nevertheless, sanctions were imposed on the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. They are valid until December 2022.
As WADA previously stated, on December 17, the organization will begin a phased process of restoring RUSADA’s rights. The completion of the procedure will depend on whether the Russian agency has complied with all requirements.
