The World Anti-Doping Agency has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency to find Kamila Valieva not guilty of using illegal drugs.
The fact that the figure skater’s doping test on December 25, 2021 indicated Valieva’s use of doping became known after the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games in China. The awards ceremony was postponed and has not been held since.
The Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee concluded that there was no “fault or negligence” on the part of Valieva in the use of doping. Her result at the 2022 Russian Championship was annulled.
