The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has indicted 222 Russian athletes based on data from the Moscow LIMS laboratory. This was stated by the head of WADA Witold Banka at sessions International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai.
“As of today, 222 verdicts have been issued, charges have been brought in 58 more cases, and investigations are ongoing in 145 cases,” said Mr. Banka.
LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is a system that recorded the results of doping tests for athletes for the period from 2012 to 2015. In January 2019, data from LIMS was transferred to WADA, and agency experts concluded that the samples were manipulated in order to hide doping violations.
In May 2023, it was reported that WADA carried out doping charges against 195 Russian athletes.
September 22 WADA reportedthat RUSADA remains deprived of full status due to inconsistencies of state legislation with the World Anti-Doping Code. The violations identified in September last year have not been corrected, the anti-doping agency said in a statement.
Yesterday, October 14, WADA received from RUSADA notification of the desire to challenge the decision of non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code. The World Agency plans to resolve the dispute at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
