Turkey has completed voting on the choice of the president and members of parliament. Polling stations closed at 17:00 local time, which coincides with Moscow.
The candidates in the presidential campaign are Turkey’s incumbent leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Republican People’s Party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Nationalist Alliance candidate Sinan Ogan.
Turkey’s Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) plans to publish the preliminary election results at night. The final results will be published on May 19 in the official newspaper.
Earlier, Erdogan said that the elections in Turkey “are being held without problems.” He monitors the election results from Ankara, and not from Istanbul, as previously reported.
