Voting in the Russian presidential elections has ended in the DPR – Kommersant

In the Donetsk People’s Republic, at 15:00 Moscow time, polling stations closed and vote counting began. 626 polling stations and 55 temporary ones were opened in the region, including in Avdeevka.

“All areas have already closed. On the last day, voting lasted until 15:00 for security reasons. So far, no violations or provocations have been reported at this time. The process of counting votes has now begun,” said the chairman of the election commission, Vladimir Vysotsky (quoted by TASS).

As of 12:00, turnout in the republic was 88.17%. However, turnout will be updated in real time as votes are counted. In accordance with the law, the results of the region will be announced after absolutely all polling stations close.

Since February 25, early voting took place in the republic at polling stations near the line of military contact. On the main election days – March 15, 16 and 17 – voting was carried out in local areas and in premises allocated for voting.

For the first time, presidential elections in Russia were held over three days: from March 15 to 17. Also for the first time, a remote electronic voting system (DEG) was available, which 29 regions, including Moscow, were able to use. Four candidates were registered for the post of president: Vladislav Davankov (New People), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated).
