Voronezh deputy from the United Russia party Arkady Ponomarev spoke about the reasons for having three apartments in Spain. The founder of the Molvest holding, elected to the State Duma from the Voronezh region, confirmed in an interview with Vesti Voronezh that he was able to keep his seized property in Spain. He explained that these three apartments were needed in case Spain turned into a “Spanish Soviet Socialist Republic.”
According to his declaration for 2021, Ponomarev is the owner of three apartments with an area of 151, 155 and 178 square meters. In February 2022, the Spanish authorities seized this property following the imposition of sanctions by the European Union.
In May 2022, the Spanish newspaper La Nueva reported that the property of the founder of the Molvest holding would be transferred to the local municipality and then sold. However, Ponomarev himself said that despite the arrest, the apartments remain his property.
