The current governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov (United Russia), is leading in the elections for the head of the region, gaining 84.01%. As of 21:28 Moscow time, 4.05% of ballots have been counted, reports “RIA News”.
“Andrei Yuryevich Vorobyov, with a high turnout, confidently wins the election for governor of the Moscow region,” Mr. Turchak said during a video conference meeting (VCC) with regional branches of United Russia (ER), dedicated to the preliminary results of a single voting day ( quote from Interfax).
Mr. Vorobyov himself, who was present at the meeting, said that voter turnout in the Moscow region exceeded 55%, reports press service ER.
In Russia, from September 8 to 10, elections of senior officials are being held in 21 constituent entities. In addition to Mr. Vorobyov, deputies of the Moscow Regional Duma Kirill Zhigarev (LDPR), Alexander Naumov (KPRF) and Anatoly Nikitin (“A Just Russia – For Truth”) claim to be the governor of the Moscow Region.
