Von der Leyen explained what Ukraine needs to start negotiations on EU membership

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that to begin negotiations on EU membership, “time and compliance with all conditions” are needed. Her words are quoted by Le Parisien.
She noted that an EU summit will take place on December 14-15, the agenda of which will not include Ukraine’s membership in the European Union itself, but only the beginning of negotiations on this issue.
“Joining the EU can only take place once all the conditions for membership have been met,” von der Leyen said.
Earlier it was reported that Hungary became the main opponent of Ukraine’s membership in the EU. The leader of this country, Viktor Orban, called Ukraine one of the most corrupt states in the world.
