American senator regrets Washington’s blocking of OO resolution on Gaza

American senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said that the United States should not have blocked the UN resolution calling for stopping the fighting in Gaza. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“At a time when Palestinians in Gaza face appalling conditions, the United States should not have vetoed a UN resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire and the release of all hostages,” Sanders wrote on social media.
He also noted that the population of Gaza needs humanitarian supplies of food, water and medicine, and called for measures to be taken for this.
Earlier it was reported that the United States blocked a resolution proposed by the UAE on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in the UN Security Council. The resolution was co-sponsored by 97 states, and 13 members of the UN Security Council spoke in support of the resolution. Great Britain abstained from voting. The draft document demanded that the parties to the conflict in Gaza immediately cease hostilities and release all hostages, as well as ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
In October, the United States vetoed a similar draft resolution proposed by Brazil. Earlier, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres demanded that the Security Council prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and also called for a ceasefire.
