Volunteer people’s squad received weapons in the Kursk region

Governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit in his Telegramchannel announced the issuance of weapons to the participants of the voluntary people’s squad. According to the official, in the near future the combatants will have 300 weapons.

“For several months, we have been working on the issue of providing the created detachments of the voluntary people’s squad with military weapons. Today I can say that the mechanism has been found. Let me emphasize that we have created all the conditions for its storage. The first batch has already arrived at the base. In the near future, we will increase the number of weapons to 300 units,” Starovoit said. He noted that he visited the training ground of combatants who are satisfied with the conditions of stay and food.

Earlier today, on August 2, weapons were issued to the militias of another region bordering Ukraine – the Belgorod region. From the hands of the governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, members of the people’s squads received Saiga carbines and anti-drone guns. Formerly authorities declaredthat they will buy 400 weapons for the militias. In total, voluntary squads include almost 3 thousand people.

The federal authorities call the issuance of weapons to the militias a necessary measure. “This is a measure that is necessary against the backdrop of attacks, attacks that are being carried out from the territory of Ukraine … All control mechanisms, of course, must be very carefully implemented. There is no doubt that this is the case.” said Kommersant FM Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov during a press call.
