Volunteer of “Alternatives”: in Russia people are sold into slavery for 300-500 thousand rubles

Representatives of the organization “Alternative” told the journalists of “Lenta.ru”how adults and children end up in human trafficking.
According to Vera Gracheva, president of the Alternativa interregional public organization, in 2021 the International Labor Organization reported that over the past four years, the number of people who became victims of slavery has increased by a quarter – from 40 million to 50 million people, 30% of which, as shown by statistics, children.
Gracheva also noted that catching slave traders is very difficult. For example, in 2021, a total of 90,000 victims of trafficking were discovered, 10,000 criminal cases were opened, and a little more than 5,000 were sentenced. As a rule, traffickers surpass law enforcement officers in terms of technical training.
It is known that human trafficking has taken the leading position in the criminal markets, leaving behind the drug and arms trade.
According to Gracheva, children on the black market cost between 300,000 and 500,000 rubles. It is a fairly common practice that slave traders need children to be involved in criminal business and sexual exploitation, while adult victims of trafficking are used as free labor.
