In Russia, it is necessary to legally prohibit the activities of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and provide for responsibility for its support, said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

Volodin in his Telegram channel remindedthat the decisions of the ICC, the European Court of Human Rights and “other puppet institutions used by Washington to realize its interests” are not implemented in the Russian Federation. In his opinion, it would be right to continue this work.

“First. It is necessary to develop changes to the legislation prohibiting any activity of the ICC on the territory of our country, as well as to provide for responsibility for promoting and supporting the ICC,” he wrote.

The speaker of the State Duma also called for the organization of work on the conclusion of bilateral agreements with friendly countries, providing for mutual renunciation of cooperation and assistance to the court. Volodin believes that “the Supreme Commander of the Russian Federation should have the right to take any action to protect our citizens in the event that international structures make decisions that contradict the norms of the Russian Constitution.”

The State Duma Speaker recalled the so-called “law on the invasion of The Hague,” which the United States adopted in 2002. According to the document, Volodin notes, no American citizen or ally can be arrested or detained on an ICC warrant, and the law allows “starting military intervention if the American military, officials and politicians are in the dock.”

On March 17, the Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the decisions of the International Criminal Court have no legal force and are void. On March 20, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev announced that this decision would have “monstrous” consequences for international law, and added that “practical value [в этом нет] no”.

March 20 Russian Investigative Committee aroused criminal case against ICC Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan and Judges Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aytala and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez. The investigation found that the decision of the ICC judge to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin is obviously illegal, since the prosecutors and the court have no reason to bring him to criminal responsibility.
