State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to legislatively provide preferential admission to universities for participants in the special operation. About it reported on the website of the State Duma.
“It is proposed to legislatively define preferential conditions for participants in a special military operation when entering higher educational institutions and switching from a paid form of education to a budget form of education,” Volodin said.
In addition, Volodin suggested admitting children of medical workers who died from COVID-19 while on duty to universities without exams.
“Given the social significance of these issues and the consolidated position of the deputies of the State Duma, I ask you to instruct us to study these initiatives,” Volodin concluded his address to Mishustin.
Earlier in May 2023, the Ministry of Education and Science recommended that universities reduce the cost of education for participants in the special operation and their children. In addition, universities are recommended to provide students in this category with financial assistance and a place in a hostel (free of charge or at a reduced cost), as well as installments for paid educational services. Universities leave the right to provide support measures at their discretion.
At the end of 2022, it became known that a separate quota would appear in Russia for participants in the special operation and members of their families. Its size was set at 10% of the total budget places for each area of training. Heroes of Russia and those awarded with three Orders of Courage and their children, as well as children whose parents died or were injured during a special operation, can enter without entrance exams according to the quota.
