Serving in the army and having a military registration specialty should be a prerequisite for admission to the civil service, said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin at a plenary session.

“To hold a position in the civil service, participate in the elections of deputies of the State Duma, hold a position in the judiciary, in the prosecutor’s office, it is mandatory to have a military registration specialty and service in the Armed Forces,” – leads his words “Duma TV”.

According to Volodin, all future personnel decisions should be made “taking into account the need to serve in the Armed Forces, the presence of a military specialty.” In this case, a system of personnel lifts will be implemented, in which every person, regardless of his place of work, “can and must defend” the country.

Volodin has already spoken on this subject. So, at the end of September 2022, he offered deputies to begin discussing the issue of compulsory military service and obtaining a military registration specialty (VUS) for those wishing to work in the civil service and be elected to elected positions. Only those who received the VUS, military ID and took the military oath should apply for deputy, governorship and other positions, he said then.

Earlier today, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, at a meeting on increasing the size of the Armed Forces, said that large-scale changes in the Russian army, including an increase in its strength to 1.5 million people, would be realized during 2023-2026

The minister also announced the formation of the Moscow and Leningrad military districts, an army corps in Karelia, the reformatting of seven motorized rifle brigades in the Western, Central, Eastern military districts and the Northern Fleet into motorized rifle divisions, as well as strengthening the combat component of the Navy, Aerospace Forces and Strategic Missile Forces. In addition, Shoigu called for paying special attention to the recruitment of contract soldiers, ensuring the timely supply of weapons, increasing the number of training grounds in military districts and new territories, etc.
