Washington sells energy to Europe for more than seven times the price on the domestic market, dooming it to “hunger, cold and isolation,” wrote Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.

“In the US, gas today costs $333 per 1,000 cubic meters. Washington itself sells it to Europe 7.3 times more expensive, making the economies of the EU countries uncompetitive. Inflation has already reached a record high for the eurozone – 8.9%,” Volodin said.

According to him, the abnormal heat that broke out in Europe hit agriculture hard, and the harvest was reduced by 20%. There is also a shortage of electricity, the cost of which has increased six times in a year, Volodin added.

The speaker of the State Duma is also convinced that the decision of the European states to refuse Russian energy carriers and the ban on the entry of Russian citizens into Europe were made under pressure from Washington. In purely countries that have become “conductors of US policy” in Europe, have become England, Estonia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic and Finland, he said. “Washington is ready to do everything to maintain its power over the world, sacrificing for this the welfare of citizens and the economy of European countries,” the politician said.

Volodin has repeatedly criticized Europe for imposing sanctions, which, in his opinion, are hitting them. August 9 he declaredthat 77.6% of foreign companies did not close their business in Russia, and also noted that the sanctions policy of the West only led to rising prices, inflation and a shortage of energy resources.

In early July, it became known that the European Union, following the results of last month, for the first time in history imported more liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US than pipeline gas from Russia. The volume of supplies of American LNG to Europe in June amounted to about 5 billion cubic meters. m, while the volume of natural gas from Russia turned out to be much less than this value.

The sanctions and counter-sanctions of the Russian Federation imposed against Russia led to a halt in the flow of gas through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline (capacity – 32.9 billion cubic meters per year). Since the beginning of May, Ukraine has been rejecting Gazprom’s applications for transit through the territory of the LPR and the DPR. And in mid-June, the volume of gas flowing through the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline (capacity – 55 billion cubic meters per year) decreased by 40%.
