Volodin said that the EU countries are fighting against Russia

According to Volodin, in the EU countries, instead of condemning “bloody crimes, they prefer” to discuss anti-Russian sanctions. These are double standards that were used before, and the EU countries themselves will suffer from the introduction of restrictions, the speaker of the State Duma is convinced. While Europe recorded record inflation last year, and now the eurozone has entered a recession, forecasts for the Russian economy are improving, Volodin writes.

“Sanctions have ceased to be an effective tool to curb the development of our country <...> Today, another question has become relevant: how many packages of sanctions against Russia were left before the collapse of the European Union? he said.

At the end of March, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced new restrictions against the Russian Federation. She then stated that the 11th package of sanctions would be aimed at combating circumvention of restrictions. New measures may include a ban on the transit of certain goods through Russia, as well as their export to certain third countries.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the imposed sanctions against Russia. In particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the restrictions illegitimate and said that they “cause serious damage to the international legal system.” The Kremlin said that Western citizens have to pay for sanctions against Russia.
