State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin expressed the idea to take only those who have served in the army and have a military specialty into public service. He believes that having or receiving a military registration specialty is prestigious.
Mr. Volodin announced his initiative at a meeting of the State Duma. He proposed to consider the issue of allowing those who served in the army, who have a military specialty, to come to the civil service, and only in this way. “If you have received a military specialty, a military ID, taken an oath, then you can already apply for deputy, election of the head, governor, and other positions,” the politician said.
Vyacheslav Volodin himself did not serve in the army. He avoided the draft due to the fact that after graduating from the Saratov Institute of Agricultural Mechanization he entered graduate school. He is a state adviser of the 1st class, which corresponds to the rank of colonel.
At today’s meeting, the Speaker of the State Duma also criticized Russians who left the country after the announcement of partial mobilization on September 21. He claims that such fellow citizens “have not yet sniffed gunpowder, but have already crawled under beds and skirts.” Mr. Volodin offered to transfer their abandoned cars to the families of the mobilized.
