Finnish Foreign Ministry: “state subject” is behind the state of emergency with Nord Stream

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said that “a certain state entity” is behind the emergency with Nord Stream. He added that vessel movements in the Baltic Sea close to the pipeline infrastructure would be monitored.
“When an operation of this magnitude is carried out, some state entity must be involved in it,” the head of the Finnish foreign ministry answered a question from the newspaper Helsingin sanomat.
He suggested that the emergency with the pipeline could affect the development of sanctions, subject to the discovery of “any trace of the culprit.”
“Finland is extremely concerned about what happened,” the minister stressed, noting that this is an issue for the entire European Union, when “sabotage is possible on a key energy network.”
