Volodin proposed to ban the transit of Polish trucks through Russia

On May 22, the State Duma Council will consider the issue of retaliatory measures against Poland’s anti-Russian policy, including a ban on the passage of Polish trucks through Russia. This was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
“It would be right to forbid Poland to cash in on Russia today: to stop the passage of Polish trucks through the territory of our country. Let the goods be loaded onto Russian trucks. Our citizens will earn on transportation,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.
According to Volodin, under such a scenario, Warsaw will lose about 8.5 billion euros. As a result, about 2,000 Polish transport companies, employing over 20,000 drivers, will suffer or go bankrupt.
The speaker of the State Duma said that Poland owes its “existence as a state” to Russia, because after the end of World War II, the USSR spent more than $ 750 billion on the restoration and development of the republic. At the same time, Warsaw “acts meanly” and demolishes monuments to Soviet soldiers, closes Russian schools and seizes Russian property, Volodin drew attention.
In his opinion, in this regard, Poland should also “return the territories acquired as a result of the Second World War and reimburse our country for the funds spent on it in the war and post-war years.”
Earlier, the Russian authorities have repeatedly called Poland’s policy towards Russia a manifestation of Russophobia. May 10, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Poland’s actions “border on insanity”. Thus, he commented on the idea of Warsaw to abandon the traditional name of Kaliningrad and use the name “Krulewiec” instead, as well as the disruption of the wreath-laying ceremony by Russian diplomats in Warsaw on 9 May.
