The battle for Artemovsk (Bakhmut), which lasted eight months, gave the Russian army the opportunity to regroup and reverse the unfavorable situation for us associated with the loss of territories in the Kharkov and Kherson regions in the summer and autumn of 2022. So says the commander of the Vostok battalion, deputy head of the National Guard of the DPR, Alexander Khodakovsky.

“All these long days, while ours were breaking the back of the enemy in Bakhmut, they gave us precious time,” he wrote in his channel.

According to him, the loss of territories last year was due to the fact that by the time our offensive potential was exhausted, we could not organize the defense properly. It took time to realize the threats and accumulate reserves, and our assault detachments in Bakhmut gave it. “The time to realize, the time to make decisions, the time to take action – so that the new offensive of our collective enemy does not turn out to be as effective as the previous ones,” Khodakovsky noted. – How we took advantage of this time – the battle will show.

He recalled that it is not the Armed Forces of Ukraine that are opposed to us, which would have ended long ago without the support of NATO, “but an enemy technologically stronger than we are.”

Khodakovsky believes that Bakhmut, although an important milestone for the NVO, is by no means the last. “Bakhmut is not Berlin, and his fall does not mark the end,” he said. – … There are not one or two such “Bakhmuts” left not taken only on Donetsk soil, and each of them can become a new “Bakhmut”. Therefore, according to him, it is important to keep the liberated territories and move on.
