Volodin: deliveries of offensive weapons to Kyiv lead the world to a terrible war

Deliveries of offensive weapons by Western countries to Kyiv will lead to a global catastrophe, Russia can respond by using more powerful weapons, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said on his Telegram channel.

“If Washington and NATO countries supply weapons that will be used to strike civilian cities and attempt to seize our territories, as they threaten, this will lead to retaliatory measures using more powerful weapons,” wrote Speaker of the State Duma

According to him, members of Congress, deputies of the Bundestag, the National Assembly of France and other European parliaments should “realize their responsibility to humanity”. By their decisions, Volodin believes, Washington and Brussels are “leading the world to a terrible war.” It will be a “completely different” military action than now, when the Russian Federation strikes “exclusively on the military and critical infrastructure used by the Kyiv regime,” the politician explained.

“Given the technological superiority of Russian weapons, foreign politicians making such decisions need to understand that this could end in a global tragedy that will destroy their countries,” Volodin said.

He also pointed out that the arguments about the earlier non-use of weapons of mass destruction in local conflicts are untenable, since the states did not face a threat to “the security of their citizens and the territorial integrity of the country.”

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized Western financial and military assistance to Ukraine. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has repeatedly warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.

Now West discusses the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Leopard battle tanks. Following consultations between the heads of defense ministries of NATO member countries on January 20 at the American Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, the alliance agreed to provide Ukraine with an unprecedentedly large package of military assistance in terms of nomenclature, but German Leopard 2 tanks were not included in it. After that, the Foreign Ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania called on the German authorities to urgently transfer tanks to Kyiv. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov also warned about the negative consequences of the transfer of heavy tanks to Kyiv.
