Volodin announced the failure of the West’s attempts to disrupt the elections in Russia

The elections in Russia were successful despite attempts by the United States and the European Union to disrupt them, stated State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.

“Washington and Brussels did everything to prevent these elections from taking place: provocations, intimidation and shelling by the Kyiv regime. But their plans failed. Voter safety was ensured, and voting took place openly, honestly, and in a competitive manner,” Volodin emphasized.

He also drew attention to the high turnout in new regions – the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. According to him, this is a reflection of the desire of the residents of these territories to influence the future development of Russia.

“A year ago, residents of these regions made a decision in a referendum to be with Russia. Today this desire to live in one country and develop together is once again confirmed,” he added.

From September 8 to 10, 4,270 election campaigns of various levels were held in 85 regions of Russia. Based on their results, more than 33,000 mandates will be filled; over 85,000 candidates from 23 parties have nominated themselves for the elections. Representatives of 20 parties were registered, a total of 81,000 candidates, United Russia had the most candidates, then the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Liberal Democratic Party.

In all new regions, legislative bodies are elected on a single voting day. Turnout in the DPR after the closure of polling stations was 76.41%, in the LPR – 72.53%, in the Zaporozhye region – 66.83%, in the Kherson region – 64.45%.
