State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that the State Duma is going to introduce a ban on surrogate motherhood for foreigners in early December. According to him, over the past few years, about 45 thousand children were taken abroad, who were born by surrogate mothers.
“Everything must be done to protect children by prohibiting foreigners from using the surrogacy service. We will make such a decision in early December,” wrote Viacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.
Mr. Volodin also called surrogacy a “big illegal business” with a turnover of about €2 billion a year. “Such kids often find themselves in the most difficult situations: they become victims of crimes, including sales for organs, fall into same-sex couples,” he wrote.
