Volodin announced parliamentary hearings on business issues in October

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin called Russia the largest European economy, comparing the top 10 economies in the world in 2012 and 2022. In his opinion, the sanctions could not prevent the country from developing, but now it is necessary to move towards a “proactive economy”. Because of this, he announced large parliamentary hearings on small and medium-sized businesses, which will be held in October.

“Russia, despite more than 17.5 thousand sanctions, has become the largest European economy over these 10 years, entered the top five world leaders,” wrote Viacheslav Volodin in Telegram channel.

The politician expressed the opinion that the sanctions “hit their initiators like a boomerang.” In particular, he noted that over the past ten years, the United States has lost leadership to China, Germany has dropped out of the top five economies in the world, and France and Britain have fallen to ninth and tenth places. “The challenges have made us stronger. But much remains to be done,” Mr. Volodin noted.

According to the speaker of the State Duma, in order to build a proactive economy, it is necessary to support domestic manufacturers, strengthen technological sovereignty, and build an effective dialogue with business representatives.

“We plan to hold large parliamentary hearings in October on the development of small and medium-sized businesses,” added Viacheslav Volodin.
