Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin and Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE Saqr Ghobbash signed an agreement on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, reported press service of the State Duma.
The meeting of the two parliamentarians took place on September 25 in Abu Dhabi, and as a result this document was signed. According to Volodin, Russia and the UAE, being strategic partners, are reaching a new level of interparliamentary interaction. The development of relations is due to Presidents Vladimir Putin and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, he added.
“For our part, we need to comply and do everything to legislatively ensure the decisions made by the presidents, as well as contribute to the development of relations within the parliamentary dimension,” Volodin said.
Gobbash, in turn, emphasized that it is important to establish contacts between parliamentary committees and commissions, since it is important for the legislative assemblies of the two countries to meet the level of cooperation set by the leaders of Russia and the UAE. Volodin also invited his colleague to visit Russia in January 2024.
September 24 Volodin committed official visit to Mongolia, meeting with the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombojavin Zandanshatar. According to the speaker of the State Duma, Russia and Mongolia should develop “a variety of formats of cooperation: interregional, cross-border and inter-parliamentary format.”
