Volkswagen company will equip your cars using a chatbot with artificial intelligence from OpenAI. The IDA voice assistant based on ChatGPT, developed by specialists from Cerence, Volkswagen’s technology partner, will be integrated into the on-board multimedia system.
IDA can be used to control the infotainment system, navigation and air conditioning, or get answers to general questions. The voice assistant automatically prioritizes the execution of commands, and if the Volkswagen multimedia system cannot respond to the request autonomously, the anonymized command is sent to OpenAI, where it is processed.
ChatGPT reportedly does not access any data about the vehicle or its owner – questions and answers are deleted immediately after processing to ensure the highest possible level of data protection.
Multimedia with IDA voice assistant will be available for the ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3 electric vehicles, the Tiguan crossover, the Passat station wagon and the updated Golf model from the second quarter of 2024. Volkswagen cars will be the first production cars on the market to have ChatGPT as standard equipment.
