Ukrainian armed formations in the Zaporozhye direction are increasingly using homemade drones, and less often factory-made ones, military correspondent and military expert Boris Rozhin wrote in his Telegram channel.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine began to use homemade UAVs in the Zaporizhzhya direction, which are assembled from scrap materials and often fall without the use of weapons. Serial and factory-assembled UAVs are becoming increasingly rare,” he wrote.
Earlier, the American publication Business Insider, citing experts, reported that the SU is significantly inferior to the Russian Armed Forces in terms of the number and quality of drones used. Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin said that by the end of 2023, Ukraine intends to “produce tens of thousands” of drones every month. According to him, Ukraine is increasing the pace of production of drones faster than other types of weapons and ammunition. At the same time, he did not name the monthly production volumes of drones in the country at the moment, limiting himself to the figure of “several thousand units.”
Former head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov stated that the Ukrainian army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has more than 20 new types of domestic drones, and announced a “boom in the production” of drones in Ukraine. It was also reported that plans to allocate about 31.6 billion hryvnia (about $867 million) for the purchase of drones for the Ukrainian army.
