Vodnik’s preparations for the Russian Championship are entering the home stretch. This was reported by the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region. One of its final stages was participation in the pre-season tournament – the Volga-Sport-Arena Cup, in which the Arkhangelsk team reached the final. In the decisive match they met with the capital’s Dynamo.

In the Mother See, since September of this year, the Krylatskoye sports complex, which in recent years was a Covid hospital, has again been used for its intended purpose. His presence allowed the blue and white to approach this tournament very well-trained. The residents of Arkhangelsk strictly followed the game discipline. As further developments of events showed, this bet was completely justified. In the first half, the Muscovites were able to upset the northerners only once – 0:1. Looking ahead, it is worth noting that the main heroes of this match were the team goalkeepers Igor Dolgopolov and Roman Chernykh, who rescued their teammates in seemingly hopeless situations.

In the second half of the meeting, the Arkhangelsk team was able to seize the initiative and literally press the opponent to the goal. First, after a corner kick in the opponent’s penalty area, Sergei Kalinin turned out to be the quickest of all, and then Evgeniy Dergaev brought Vodnik ahead – 2:1. Following this, the yellow-greens had a lot of opportunities to strengthen their advantage, but the ball, as if enchanted, flew anywhere but into the Dynamo goal. The Muscovites, in turn, only reached Igor Dolgopolov’s goal twice, and both attempts led to their capture – 2:3. In the remaining time, Ivan Maksimov’s charges made a number of attempts to tip the scales in their favor, but to no avail.

Despite the defeat, the yellow-greens showed a very high-quality game and full dedication throughout the entire 90 minutes, which instills confidence in its worthy performance this season.

In the near future, the northerners will continue to prepare for the Russian Championship in Ulyanovsk. They will play their first match in the main tournament of the season away on November 6, when they meet with Nizhny Novgorod Start.
