In Vladivostok, more than half of the monthly rainfall fell within a few hours. At 20:00 (13:00 Moscow time) about 73 mm of precipitation fell in Vladivostok against the norm of 104 mm. Due to heavy rains, one of the roads of the city came off the ground. From 18:00 (11:00 Moscow time) in Vladivostok, a high alert mode was introduced. It will be valid until 09:00 June 13 (02:00 Moscow time).
“Some providers are experiencing problems with Internet connection. The City Hall website is currently unavailable. As a result of the downpour, the soil came off the slope. Special equipment and brigades of road workers have been sent to eliminate it,” the press service of the Vladivostok City Hall told TASS. Heavy rains began in the city around 15:00 (08:00 Moscow time). According to the Primorsky hydrometeorological center, the strongest blow fell on the city center and the area of the Second River.
Local residents posted photos from the collapse on social networks. Part of the three-lane road near the Friendship Bridge is littered with soil and large stones. Video footage shows pedestrians being forced to walk knee-deep in water. Also, local residents report that in some areas, water under high pressure comes out onto the roads from sewer manholes.
Head of Vladivostok Konstantin Shestakov informed about flooding on Imanskaya, Avrorovskaya, Pogranichnaya streets. He also appealed to employers with a request to transfer employees to remote work. According to him, the increase in rain is expected from 22:00 (15:00 Moscow time).
June 7 in Vladivostok happened an accident at a section of the main heat supply network near Lugovaya Square. As a result, a stream of hot rust-colored water flooded the square itself and the surrounding streets. Because of the incident, hot water was turned off in 146 apartment buildings, where more than 23 thousand people live. This is the second accident in the city’s heat supply for the current year, a similar one occurred in March. Then, due to a break in the section of the heating main, about 30 thousand residents of Vladivostok were left without heating and hot water supply.
