Vladislav Ovchinsky spoke about the production of the first domestic multiplexers

The first completely Russian multiplexers will be produced in Moscow. Devices used in the technology of accelerating data transfer (by 30-40 times) will be manufactured by Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center (ZNTC), a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ.
“In order to develop technologies in the field of photonics, an intersectoral cluster was created in Moscow last year, which brings together more than 40 participants. Half of them are companies localized on the territory of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. Last year, ZNTC specialists obtained the first samples of domestic optical waveguide multiplexer crystals,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Head of the Investment and Industrial Policy Department.
He added that at the moment, the nanocenter is preparing to launch mass production. This year it is planned to produce at least 300 products, and by 2025 – to increase production to 5,000 pieces per year.
According to Gennady Degtev, General Director of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, the new multiplexer will allow transmitting 44 different information streams over a single optical fiber. Thus, the efficiency of Internet networks on the existing infrastructure will increase without significant modernization.
Note that the modules have no domestic analogues. In addition, for the first time, the component base of the device was fully developed and manufactured at the own production facilities of a resident of the SEZ “Technopolis Moscow”.
