Today is the anniversary of the man who managed to reshape geography. The President of the Ural Community in Moscow, Vladimir Strashko, working in the capital for many years, did not ignore the interests of his native Urals. He achieved the appearance of a “piece” of local historical attractions in the Moscow region. It was thanks to this man that an outstanding statesman of the Russian Empire was brought back from oblivion, who laid the foundation for the development of the largest industrial region.
In a long-term journalistic practice, replete with acquaintance with a wide variety of people, meetings with those who are called restless enthusiasts are especially valuable. They are the ones who leave the brightest, most positive impression and make us believe more firmly that life around us is developing in the direction it needs to go.
Vladimir Petrovich Strashko is one of those restless people.
Our paths crossed several years ago in connection with the “lost” important historical character – the 18th century statesman, industrialist, founder of Yekaterinburg, historian Vasily Tatishchev.
This extraordinary man spent the last years of his life in the Moscow province, died and was buried here. However, over the years, his grave in the forest churchyard fell into disrepair and became practically inaccessible, surrounded by thickets of trees and ravines. Strashko, who headed the Ural community, could not come to terms with such injustice and made every effort to return to us the memory of Tatishchev, who did so much for his native Ural region.
It was at the suggestion of Vladimir Petrovich that the MK correspondent got involved in this epic – he got to the Tatishchev burial site and wrote a report about it. Of course, the newspaper word has power, but it cannot be done without energetic administrative and organizational activity. This is where Strashko’s restless enthusiasm came into play.
Over the past few years, he has moved seemingly insurmountable mountains of problems. And together with his like-minded people he managed to achieve an amazing result. With the help of the leadership of the Moscow and Sverdlovsk regions, Yekaterinburg, the unique Tatishchev trail was built and inaugurated last summer. Now anyone can easily get to the grave of Vasily Tatishchev along a specially equipped, illuminated path. This is how the Ural landmark appeared in the capital region.
This result of Vladimir Strashko’s activity is perfectly suited to the motto from the famous novel: “Fight and search, find and not give up!” One can only once again express my respect to a person who is ready to spare no effort for the correct arrangement of our lives on all fronts, including taking care of the preservation of historical memory.
And there were many of these fronts in the life of Vladimir Petrovich Strashko. In past years, he had the opportunity to occupy high positions. He was the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs first of the USSR, and then of Russia, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation… But in our conversations he did not say a word about it, preferring to remain simply a patriot of the history of Russia and its Stone Belt, a fighter “for Tatishchev”.
It seems that Strashko will not stop at the successes achieved in this field. The energy and restless enthusiasm of the current hero of the day simply will not allow him to rest on his laurels.
