Vladimir Putin has his first potential election competitor

In Moscow on Sunday, December 17, a meeting of the initiative group was held that supported the nomination of 40-year-old journalist from Rzhev (Tver region) Ekaterina Duntsova for the presidency of the Russian Federation. Mrs. Duntsova herself reported this on Telegram.

According to her, more than 700 supporters took part in the meeting, and the initiative group ultimately included 522 of them (with a minimum of 500 people established by law). Some “questionable incidents” (the lights went out in the hall for 15 minutes) “generally did not affect the course of the event,” the potential candidate added. She also noted that on Monday her headquarters will prepare a package of documents, which she plans to submit to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation on Tuesday. If he registers an initiative group, Ekaterina Duntsova will be able to open an election account and begin collecting the 300 thousand voter signatures required by law for self-nominated candidates in her support.

Previously, Ms. Duntsova posted several videos on Instagram (owned by Meta, a recognized extremist organization banned in Russia) in which she explained why she decided to run for president. “I have three children, and they ask what will happen in two or three years, what countries they can go to, what will happen to their education, to the Internet in Russia, when the SVO will end and what our goals are there. And I think what kind of future do they, my children, have in general, because I don’t have good answers to any of these questions and neither does anyone,” says one of the videos. In conclusion, the journalist says that she is going to the polls “so that each of us, our children and our country have a future.”

Let us remind you that a day earlier, on December 16, a meeting of another initiative group was held in the Moscow Zaryadye Concert Hall, which unanimously supported the nomination of current President Vladimir Putin for a new term. It has not yet been announced by what day his supporters intend to prepare the necessary documents for transfer to the Central Election Commission.
