Near the Demeevskaya metro station in Kyiv, the ground has subsided under shopping pavilions, reports the Ukrainian agency UNIAN.
According to representatives of the Kyiv city administration, soil failure in this area was recorded even before the closure of six metro stations. The press service reports that enhanced control is being carried out at this site, and no critical changes have been identified.
The Demeevskaya station is one of six Kyiv metro stations closed due to depressurization of the tunnel.
On December 8, it was announced that train traffic would be suspended between the Lybidska and Demeevskaya stations on the blue metro line in Kyiv. This situation is associated with depressurization of the tunnel, the walls of which have cracks.
On the same day, advisor to the mayor of Kyiv Dmitry Belotserkovets said that former President and Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Mykola Azarov were responsible for the flooding of the metro. On December 13, the Kyiv police reported that they were conducting investigative actions in the companies “Kiev Metro”, “Metrostroy” and in structural divisions of the Kyiv City Administration due to the incident.
