Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Valery Zorkin with the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The decree was published on the official Internet portal legal information.
Valery Zorkin was awarded “for outstanding services to the Fatherland and many years of fruitful state activity,” follows from the document.
For the first time, Valery Zorkin was appointed to the post of head of the Constitutional Court in October 1991. In 2018, he was re-elected to this post for the sixth time. The 79-year-old head of the Constitutional Court is also a member of the Presidium of the Association of Lawyers of Russia and the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Combating Corruption.
