Experts are now actively working on a new textbook of world history. As written in the terms of reference, it will not be “written from scratch”, but based on those history textbooks that are approved and used in schools. According to Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, work on the new textbook will take about a year.
The working group on the creation of a new textbook will be headed by Vladimir Medinsky as head of the working group on historical education. It was also decided to involve MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, who is already the author of history textbooks.
It is assumed that the textbooks will combine the courses “General History” and “History of Russia”.
– The main thing is that the new history textbook should not be formal. We need to make it interesting for students,” said Sergey Kravtsov.
