Vitold Banka re-elected as President of WADA

The founding board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) unanimously re-elected President Vitold Banka and Vice President Yang Yang for a second term. The council takes place in Montreal, Canada. They are elected for the second time, the three-year term will be the final one for sports functionaries, informs WADA.
“According to my manifesto, which I laid out before I was elected President of WADA in 2019, my tenure has been a period of collaboration – together we have made significant progress in areas such as athlete engagement, education, code monitoring, investigations, increasing financing of anti-doping activities, as well as scientific research,” said Mr. Banka.
Three years under the leadership of Witold Banka and Yang Yang were a period of significant progress for WADA and the global anti-doping system, the organization notes. During this time, the agency published its Strategic Plan 2020-2024 and implemented a wide-ranging management reform. In addition, in January 2021, WADA began implementing the fourth version of the World Anti-Doping Code and eight related international standards.
Witold Banka is a former Polish athlete and Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland. Yang Yang is a two-time Olympic champion in short track speed skating from China.
