Former expert of the Council of Europe and the UN Committee on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Vitaly Kvashis committed suicide. His body was found in his apartment in western Moscow, emergency services told TASS.
According to preliminary information, death occurred on July 16. 85-year-old Kvashis left a suicide note. The agency clarifies that recently he was seriously ill, other details are not given. According to the Telegram channel Shota Makarov pistol was found next to the deceased.
Vitaly Kvashis was an Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Law, Professor. He worked as a consultant to the Secretariat of the Chairman of the Presidium of the USSR for seven years. He was also an expert of the Security Committee of the State Duma and the expert council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on matters of rule-making.
