Vitaly Khotsenko, who was appointed Acting Governor of the Omsk Region on March 29 after the early resignation of Alexander Burkov, arrived at a new job. On Friday evening, it was presented to the government of the region, deputies of the legislative assembly and heads of local governments. Those present at the ceremony also said goodbye to Mr. Burkov: the ex-head of the region received a long and thunderous applause. Mr. Khotsenko promised to work in such a way that after leaving for a new place of work, they would also see him off.

The ceremony of introducing Acting Governor Vitaly Khotsenko took place in the government building of the Omsk Region on the evening of March 31. Members of the regional government, deputies of the regional parliament, heads of municipalities, etc. were invited to it.

RecallOn March 29, Vladimir Putin accepted the early resignation of Omsk Governor Alexander Burkov, who represented A Just Russia – For Truth, and appointed Vitaly Khotsenko, who previously headed the government of the Donetsk People’s Republic, to take his place. On the way from Donbass, the new head of the region managed to meet with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government Marat Khusnullin, with whom he discussed plans for the socio-economic development of the Omsk region “in the first approximation.” This category includes, in particular, issues of housing and road construction.

The new leader of the region arrived in Omsk together with Alexander Burkov a few hours before the presentation ceremony. The ceremony itself took about half an hour.

The acting governor was introduced by the presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev. “Vitaly Pavlovich Khotsenko has diverse life and professional experience, leadership qualities, knowledge and competencies necessary for a modern leader,” he told Omsk residents. According to the plenipotentiary, a native of Dnepropetrovsk has shown himself worthy as the head of the Donbass government, “providing a solution to problems that are significant for citizens in a very difficult situation.” Also, Mr. Seryshev said a few words of gratitude to Alexander Burkov. At this point, applause broke out in the hall, which did not subside for almost half a minute.

Vitaliy Khotsenko, who came to the podium after the plenipotentiary, said that he had written the text of the speech, but decided to retell it in his own words. Having told about the main milestones of his biography, the acting governor described the work of his predecessor.

“It is difficult for me to make an assessment, but at least what people (high-ranking people, acquaintances, friends) say about the personal qualities, human, professional qualities of the governor, the team, and what has been done, a lot has been done. I hope I will deserve the same applause when I have to switch to another job … ”said Vitaly Khotsenko.

He also expressed the hope that “Omsk land will accept” him, and promised to do everything possible to make the life of Omsk residents better. “My wife agreed to move with me. At first she cursed, and then she said: “Let’s go, we’ll take all the children (the new acting governor has six of them.— “b”). So in the very near future we will be Omsk residents ourselves, ”said the acting governor about how the issue of moving was resolved in his family.

“I will ask and demand from my team, deputy governors, from ministers, to ask deputies, members of the Federation Council to pull money from all federal authorities, state corporations as much as possible, attract business to the territory of our region,” Vitaly Khotsenko shared his plans.

The third and last speech at the ceremony was the speech of Alexander Burkov. “Much, of course, has been done to develop industry and agriculture. Year after year, we have increased the investment attractiveness of our region. Thanks to this, among other things, we managed today to start a new sector of the economy – transport and logistics,” he summed up the results of almost five years of development of the Omsk region under his leadership.

Mr. Burkov remembered the hard work of doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic and the support of military personnel and their families. He thanked the audience and asked them to support the acting governor as “you once supported me.”

After these words, the audience stood up and applauded the ex-governor for almost a minute.
