Vitaliy Chernochub: “Omsk Hawks have almost all matches in an equal fight”

Sunday, April 23, in the MHL “Omsk Hawks” won in overtime 3:2 fifth match of the Kharlamov Cup final against Chaika. The coach of our team Vitaliy Chernochub gave an assessment of the meeting.

As the mentor noted, the problem of goals conceded in the finals is very difficult in the majority. She has real reasons.

– This is actually a hockey holiday, everything from the game was here: emotions, good performance skills on the part of both teams. Two worthy teams fought. Each has its pros and cons. They gave us good hockey – where there were goals in the last seconds, and both opponents compared the score. And overtime.

– I note that a lot of unfair negativity was poured on the players in the press. It’s unfair, because the guys all give themselves to the game every time. Therefore, I ask you not to write a lot of bad things about them, it’s better to write badly only about me. But not about them. They have almost all matches in an equal fight. Plus or minus a little.

– You rejoiced today especially emotionally. Is this the brightest match of your career so far for you?

– For me, the main thing is the players. That they did not break mentally, neither after 1:3 in the series, nor after a goal conceded in the last second of normal time. They play the hockey that we initially adhered to according to the plan. Somewhere they endured, somewhere they attacked, somewhere they caught on themselves. I liked that in this way they played in an adult way. No fuss or panic. This is the hockey that I would like to see in the future.

– The Hawks often concede in the powerplay in the final – there are already three goals in a series. How to find a way out of this?

– We have reviewed a LOT of videos for this. If you knew… And how many of these points have already been analyzed. And so, and so … And on the examples of other teams. I don’t know the main reason. Maybe it’s emotions. I want to score a goal and play defensively somewhere. Well, here we must pay tribute to the “Seagull” – here she always has two hockey players who are ready to run away to the attack.
