Residents of a number of remote Yakut villages cannot participate in the online voting from the Ministry of Digital Development on priority Internet connection in 2023. The reason is its absence in these villages. This was reported by Sakhaday with reference to the statement of Deputy Elena Golomareva during the parliamentary session of the State Assembly of Yakutia.
“People from small villages write that this is some kind of mockery,” said Golomareva. According to her, they do not understand “how to vote for the Internet without the Internet.”
The deputy pointed to the village of Nizhneyansk in the Ust-Yansky ulus beyond the Arctic Circle with a population of 218 people. This settlement, according to her, will not be able to participate in the project. It is impossible to vote on the State Services portal due to the lack of the Internet, and it cannot be done by mail, since it is not available in the village either.
On October 27, voting began in Russia on the choice of small settlements, in which there are at least 100 and no more than 500 inhabitants, for priority Internet connection in 2023.
Online voting will last until November 12, letters with nominations can be sent until November 26.
7192 people voted in Yakutia.
The Ministry of Digital Development reported that 1,800 small settlements across the country would be connected to 4G, following the results of an all-Russian vote.
At the end of October, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that 85% of households in Russia have the opportunity to connect broadband Internet access. This is 10% more than last year.
