Roman Vilfand, Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, during a press conference held today, shared his vision of the weather prospects for the regions on New Year’s Eve. Judging by his words, the most dramatic changes await Moscow and Magadan with Chukotka.
Everything is already clear with Moscow, but in the Magadan region and Chukotka, as it turned out, “the whole of December there was a fantastic heat.” That is, the temperature in the same Anadyr “was higher than in Moscow.” However, in these regions, according to expert, everything will soon return to normal: there will be minus 45-46 degrees.
In many other territories, there will be no “fantastic heat” on New Year’s Eve either. In the Irkutsk region, the Khabarovsk Territory and Yakutia, the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Approximately the same in the Urals and the north of Western Siberia. Minus 35 degrees is expected in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, minus 35-37 degrees in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
“In the Sverdlovsk region on New Year’s Eve, the prevailing temperature will be 27-29 degrees below zero, but [будет понижаться] up to 33 degrees,” promised Roman Vilfand. In the Chelyabinsk region – up to 27 degrees, in Kurgan cold and even more – up to minus 32 degrees.
Below thirty degrees of frost will be on a festive night in the Omsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk regions.
Yakutia, of course, is out of competition: in its various regions it will be 38-48 degrees below zero, and in the capital of the republic – 35-40 degrees, which is close to the climatic norm. Not hot.
