Viktor Orban shared Trump’s tough plans to help Kyiv

Donald Trump “will not give a penny” to Ukraine if he is re-elected US president, far-right Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said after a controversial meeting with Trump in Florida.

According to Orbán in Hungarian state media, Donald Trump will not give a penny to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, which will end, “because it is obvious that Ukraine cannot stand on its own two feet.”

According to Viktor Orban, Trump has a “detailed plan” to end the conflict in Ukraine, writes The Guardian.

The US and its allies have backed Ukraine, but further US aid has been held up in Congress as the Senate passed with bipartisan support only to be blocked in the House of Representatives, which is controlled by Trump’s far-right allies.

Calling Trump a “man of peace,” Orban said that “if the Americans don’t give money and weapons along with the Europeans,” the conflict will end. And if the Americans do not give money, the Europeans alone will not be able to finance Kyiv, the Hungarian leader emphasized. And then, according to him, the conflict will end.

Despite facing 91 criminal charges and multimillion-dollar damages in civil suits related to his business, as well as rape allegations that a judge found “substantially true,” Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee, The Guardian notes.

Long seen as showing respect for and enthusiasm for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump recently suggested that if re-elected he would encourage Russia to attack US allies he believes are not contributing enough to NATO alliance.”

Joe Biden has denounced such remarks from his predecessor and adversary as “stupid, shameful and un-American” and recently accused Trump of “capitulating to authoritarian leaders.”

Orban and Trump met at Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida, last weekend, The Guardian writes.

In a statement, Orbán said: “President Trump was a president of peace, he was respected throughout the world and thus created the conditions for peace. During his presidency there was peace in the Middle East and peace in Ukraine. And there would be no war today if he were still President of the United States. We agreed that peace will come when there are world leaders who want peace. I am proud that Hungary is one of these countries. We also agreed that there is still great potential in the US-Hungarian economic relationship. Here in America the campaign is in full swing and moving forward really fast. Americans must make their own decision, and we Hungarians must frankly admit that it would be better for the world – and for Hungary too – if President Donald Trump returned to power.”

Trump said: “There is no one better, smarter or more capable leader than Viktor Orban. He’s fantastic, he’s a non-controversial figure because he says, “That’s the way it will be,” and that’s the end of it. Right? He’s the boss. No, he’s a great leader.”

On Saturday, Biden told supporters in Philadelphia: “You know who [Трамп] meeting today at Mar-a-Lago? Orban from Hungary, who categorically stated that he does not consider democracy effective and is striving for dictatorship. ”

Trump said he would become a dictator on “day one” if he beats Biden, The Guardian recalls.

On Monday, CNN national security analyst Jim Sciutto reported on former advisers who say Trump wants to be an authoritarian leader.

“He thinks he’s a big guy,” John Bolton, Trump’s third national security adviser, told Sciutto. “He likes to deal with other big guys.”
