Viktor Bout, who was serving a 25-year term in the United States and extradited to Russia as part of an exchange, joined the Liberal Democratic Party. The party card was handed to him by party leader Leonid Slutsky at a meeting dedicated to the 33-year-old political organization.
“I want to thank Viktor Anatolyevich for his decision and accept him into the ranks of the best political party in today’s Russia – the ranks of the LDPR party,” Mr. Slutsky said at the event.
December 8 Victor Bout exchanged American basketball player Brittney Griner. Bout in 2012 was sentenced in the United States to 25 years in prison for selling weapons. Greiner was sentenced to nine years in August for having hash oil in her e-cigarette at Sheremetyevo Airport.
