The authorities of Sevastopol are reformatting the Victory Park, dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, in honor of the fallen soldiers of the SVO in Ukraine, Kommersant was told in the city government.
According to officials, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev instructed to consider at a meeting of the toponymic commission the proposal of the dean of the Sevastopol district, Archpriest Sergiy Khalyuta and public organizations to rename the Student Square in Victory Park into the Square of Heroes of the NVO.
In addition, local authorities are planning to change the appearance of the international fountain in Victory Park, because, in their opinion, in its current form it looks out of place next to the alley of Heroes of the Northern Military District.
Governor Razvozhaev also proposed to replace the names of countries carved on the facade of the fountain with the names of military formations, including ships and vessels participating in the NVO, or to perpetuate on granite slabs the names of the dead participants in the NVO, whose exploits, according to officials, will soon be known will find out with a QR code. In addition, busts of Sevastopol residents, members of the NVO, are planned to be installed in Victory Park.
Recall that the Victory Park in Sevastopol was founded in the year of the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 1975.
