The authorities of the Lipetsk region have decided to cancel the May 9 Victory Parade in Lipetsk and Yelets due to information about possible provocations. About it informed Governor of the region Igor Artamonov in his Telegram channel.
“We are forced to cancel the May 9 Victory parades in Lipetsk and Yelets. The law enforcement agencies have information about possible provocations on Victory Day during mass celebrations and memorial events in the regions,” he wrote.
The cancellation of events does not mean that the region is “afraid” and “raises its hands”, but the authorities of the region do not have the right to “risk people”, Artamonov added.
Small festive events will be held in parks and squares, which will prevent mass gatherings of people at one point.
Earlier today canceled holding a military parade and procession of the “Immortal Regiment” on May 9 in the Bryansk region. The governor of the region Alexander Bogomaz explained this by concern for the safety of residents.
Earlier, military parades on May 9 were canceled for security reasons in a number of Russian regions, including the Belgorod and Kursk regions, as well as Crimea and Sevastopol. The day before, on May 2, the governor of the Saratov region Roman Busargin announced the refusal of mass events on May 9.
The military parade in Moscow will take place on May 9 as planned, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said earlier today. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plans to attend the event will not be affected by the drone attack on the Kremlin on the night of May 3, he stressed.
