Vice-Chairman of the Moldavian Party “Shor” extended the arrest for another 20 days

The deputy chairman of the Moldovan opposition party Shor, Marina Tauber, has been extended her house arrest for another 20 days. This was reported by TASS with reference to the decision of the court in Chisinau.

“The court partially approves the prosecutor’s request. The house arrest against Marina Tauber is extended for 20 days,” the court ruling says.

Court elected a measure of restraint to the vice-chairman in the form of 20 days of house arrest on May 2. The day before, Tauber had been detained at the airport in Chisinau, from where, according to the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office of the republic, she planned to fly to Tel Aviv with a transfer in Istanbul.

Tauber was detained on the basis of a prosecutor’s order issued on the same day. It says that the politician violated the conditions provided for by the preventive measures. So, on April 28, the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office petitioned to replace the preventive measure with arrest, then Tauber demanded that the court session be postponed in order to go to Israel.

The vice chair herself said that “the authorities are so afraid that they want to arrest me.” “Because I am active, I do not agree with them, I continue to fight for citizens, I continue to criticize them – it will be so,” Tauber said after the arrest.

Earlier, a criminal case was initiated against Tauber for illegal financing of the Shor party, she was detained in the summer of 2022. According to the Acting Prosecutor General of Moldova, Dmitry Robu, the Shor party did not indicate in the financial report the expenses for organizing mass events in Chisinau on June 19 – in particular, Russian artists Philip Kirkorov and Alisher Morgenstern (recognized as a foreign agent), according to investigators, were paid fees in the amount of $ 260,000.
