State clinics in St. Petersburg have run out of rabies vaccine for free vaccinations for dogs. This was reported on the website of the State Veterinary Service of St. Petersburg, the message drew attention “Fontanka”.
“Dear dog owners! From October 20, 2023, due to the temporary lack of supplies of imported vaccines to the territory of Russia, vaccination of dogs free of charge against rabies and other infectious diseases is temporarily suspended!” – says in website organizations. It is not known when the vaccine will be available.
At the same time, as Fontanka was convinced today, October 22, there is an imported vaccine at the city veterinary stations in St. Petersburg, but you can only vaccinate your pet with it for money. At a station in the Petrogradsky district they offered Czech and French vaccines “Biocan” or “Eurican” for 2,300 rubles. There is also a Czech vaccine for cats available for RUB 1,900.
In private clinics you can be vaccinated with both domestic and foreign vaccines. In some clinics, vaccination will cost 6 thousand rubles.
Last December, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that the manufacturer of Rabigen, one of the cheapest vaccines suitable for animal travel abroad, Virbac, had reduced supplies to Russia by 30% since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine.
In the summer, the relevant committee of the Federation Council recommended increase import duties on pharmaceuticals for animals to 35% to help domestic producers. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russian veterinary drugs now occupy more than half of the market.
