Venediktov suspended consideration of the lawsuit against Prigozhin until his fate was clarified

Alexey Venediktov, a journalist and former editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy radio (recognized as a foreign agent), decided to apply to the court with a request to suspend consideration of his complaint against the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin. The consideration will be suspended until the death of Mr Prigozhin in the crash of a private business jet in the Tver region is confirmed.
“I decided to apply to the court with a request to suspend consideration of my complaint against Yevgeny Prigozhin until the situation is finally clarified whether he is alive or dead,” wrote Mr. Venediktov in his Telegram.
In 2020, on the air of Ekho Moskvy, Alexei Venediktov called Yevgeny Prigozhin the owner of Wagner PMC. In response, Mr. Prigozhin filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity. In August 2022, the court recognized the statement about the connection of the businessman with PMCs as unreliable, but rejected the demand for Mr. Venediktov to refute his words.
In September 2022, Yevgeny Prigozhin admitted that back in 2014 he created the Wagner PMC. Because of this, Alexei Venediktov went to court to review the decision on the basis of “newly discovered circumstances.” Court refused him in a retrial.
Evgeny Prigozhin’s Embraer Legace 600 business jet crashed on August 23, killing all ten people on the plane. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the list of passengers included the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the commander of a private military company, Dmitry Utkin. The remains of the dead are undergoing a forensic medical examination, the death has not yet been officially confirmed.
